Tom Knoblauch, Ph.D. is an author, cultural scholar, internationally award-winning filmmaker, and broadcaster.

Together with Ben Matukewicz, he started Omaha-based Aksarben Creative in order to contribute to the Midwest's film culture, which involved writing and directing several feature films, such as Adoptation in 2016 and, most recently, Moving Parts in 2022. He created and hosted the public radio talk show Riverside Chats from 2019-2024 on NPR affiliate KIOS, followed by the PRX-syndicated arts and culture show The Entertainment with Tom Knoblauch from 2024-2025. Between these larger projects, he has written novels, directed music videos, hosted a variety of comedy podcasts, and earned his doctorate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2025.

Knoblauch’s current ongoing projects include being a member of the panel of film critics on the KPAO television series Maybe We’re Projecting, hosting the comedy podcast The Y2K Show with Will Forget, and writing cultural criticism on his Substack.

His latest book is Building a Feminocentric Canon: Céline Sciamma and the Dawn of Post-Auteurism, which will be published by Bloomsbury in December.
